A Bucket List Trip

I am not getting any younger...

For years I wanted to go to Africa and see all the big animals, and once i became a professional photographer that desire simply magnified, but i always had an excuse to not go. "I can use the money for something else", "I don't have time"... Well, with a big push from my wife, I finally decided that I am going.

But if I am going, I am going the right way, no budget tours, no cattle car buses... I want to go and experience Africa as a photographer and do it right. After looking at many options I settled on Pangolin Photo Safaris (https://www.pangolinphoto.com/). They offered a wide variety of tours and locations that cater to photographers. small groups, editing workshops, as well as being a ethical operator.

So where to go? do I head to the Great Migration of the Serengeti? maybe Kenya or South Africa? In the end I settled on Botswana where i could get a little bit of everything... I could spend time on the Chobe River, and then fly to the Okavango Delta for some land safaris and stay in a wild camp for a few days. But finding a tour was just the start. Getting flights, visas, vaccinations all need to be taken care of, and that is where the fun started. No long winded description here, just a few weeks of planning and I was all set.

Now with a the trip in sight and less that 10 days away, the packing, weighing, repacking, reweighing, rinse and repeat has started. how do you get Professional Camera Gear, Laptop, and clothing down to 2 soft bags below a total maximum of 25kg? I took a while but I think I am there. now all that is left is to step on the plane and let the journey begin....
